I
was on the first stage of REM when my eyes gazed the blurry image of my buddy.
His garbled voice echoed as I was trying to figure out what he was telling me. After
a while, it seemed that he gave up. I continued my slumber and woke up the
next day feeling rejuvenated. Blame it on the comfy bed of Red Planet Hotel in
Amorsolo, Makati.
It
was Friday, the heaviest road traffic day of the week in Metro Manila. We
traveled from Quezon City to Makati City for two and a half hours. Crazy ain’t
it? Our Makati Food Tour and staycation commenced as we stepped inside our home
for three days.
Red Planet is REDefining
the value hotel experience in Asia, their corporate slogan truly captured their vision of
providing high-quality and comfortable stay while offering an all-inclusive
room rates for their guests. Red Planet Hotel is currently operating in
Indonesia, Japan, Philippines and Thailand. Their Amorsolo (Makati) branch is
their flagship project in the country. Nestled in the heart of the Makati
Central Business District, its proximity to is well-situated around entertainment centers, shopping
malls, restaurants, and business centers.
The
funky lobby greeted us as we processed our booking reservations. Red and black
hues dominated the whole space. There’s a lounge area, business center, deli café,
and recreation wall where some board games and books were available for guests. The group
flocked at the photo booth where we happily posed. The photos taken were sent on our email addresses,
cool right?
After
the front desk officer processed our booking, we headed to the eighth floor and
checked out different rooms (check here for discounted rates). The others were booked on a Double room that was connected to a Twin room. I was assigned on a Double
room that had all the essentials for our weekend staycation.

The
cozy room was furnished with one Queen-sized bed, 32” flat screen T.V. with
local and international channels, trendy glass side tables, safety vault,
manually-controlled air conditioning, hair dryer and a full mirror.

We started our food crawl in Makati that same afternoon and concluded at around ten in the evening. The group had planned a night out somewhere so we went back at Red Planet Hotel and freshened up. I planned to snooze for a while as they prepare, but as I slumped into the huge bed, I went into dreamland straight off.
I
struggled with recognizing what my buddy was trying to say. After a moment or
two, I guess, he realized that my lifeless body won’t make it anywhere but my
bed. So there goes my Friday night; I surrendered to the cry of my bed while my
friends were partying somewhere till five in the morning, very granny-like. No regrets though, my uninterrupted
sleep lasted for hours which gave me the energy to accomplish our task for the
next day; the continuation of our wild food hunt in Makati.
On
our very last day, I heard a tune that kept on bugging me. Half-awake, I
realized that it was the room alarm. Looking at the peephole, I spotted my
friend who reminded me of the check-out time. The heavy draperies provided the ideal sleeping environment which lasted till twelve noon.
No
frills, no drama; the perfect way to describe our weekend staycation at Red
Planet Hotel in Amorsolo, Makati.
