It
was a quick visit before we move on to another adventure. With plans of
checking out Melaka for less than twenty four hours, we needed a hotel that
will be in the center of everything with the right kind of seclusion that we
needed; the Hotel Imperial Heritage Melaka perfectly fits the bill.
From Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), we hopped on a bus that goes
directly to Melaka. After two hours of rest (we make the most of our journeys
by sleeping), we arrived and went straight to our home in Melaka.
Tucked in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Melaka (with
roots from Dutch, Japanese and British influences), Hotel Imperial Heritage Melaka is
the newest hotel in town that lets you experience the historic richness of the
city, all within walking distance.
They
were on their way to their second month during our visit, but it felt like the structure itself was preserved in time. The very
well-organized frontliner team was competent and reliable. We were kinda lost
with our short schedule in the city and they helped us in all our queries and
suggested some interesting spots to check out.
It
was almost sundown and the sky turned into its radiant blue state, and I was
there standing in front of our home for that night with all its grandeur.
We felt as if we were transported back in time with the brick road, and then we went across
to where the hotel was. Up close, it was truly sophisticated in an old school way and I loved it.
We
entered the lavish lobby and were warmly greeted by a staff who immediately assisted
us on the checking in process. Once our booking was confirmed, we were instantly led to
our room. The open corridor leading to our room made the place airy and provided
a nice view of the city. I could feel the cool breeze as I was about to open the door to
our room.
I
like opening hotel doors, it’s like opening a gift that would either make
you feel giddy or gloomy. I don’t really like surprises but I wanted to be
surprised, in a good way. I digress.
Deluxe Room with Double Bed |
Our Deluxe Room was well-equipped with a huge double bed, individually-controlled air conditioning, 32” LED T.V.
with local and international channels, coffee and tea-making facilities,
separate working area, and an en suite toilet and bath with Green Tea scented
bathroom amenities (with hair dryer, yey!).
The room was tastefully decorated with touches of Melaka’s strong historical influences. The structure itself is magnificent and the small details on the interior design were flawless (check here for discounted room rates).
My buddy was ecstatic for his work space |
It’s
also notable that the complimentary WiFi was reliable and fast, perfect
for our social media engagements while on the road.
It
was almost dark and the sky was still glowing as I parted the draperies that
revealed a window which gave us a great view of something new, a new city to
discover.
We
did a river cruise, dinner somewhere and some leisurely walk that night. We
were beyond exhausted and I slept like a month-old baby as I rested my tired bod into our
comfy bed. And it was heaven!
For me, the best thing about the whole experience was the bed. It may seem trivial but that’s what stuck in me during our stay. Think about it, during our two-month backpacking around Southeast Asia, I’ve been to different hotels and experienced different beds that offer different comfort levels. At first, I thought that there would be no distinction at all, but yes, there was. It’s not how long the sleep was but the quality of it that was remarkable. Moving on, I had the most comfortable sleep in Melaka during those two months. I dunno what kind of mattress they use but I loved it. I could totally tell the difference of it to other beds I slept into.
The
rooms are inclusive with complimentary breakfast that is either served in-room
or at the restaurant (which at that time was currently under a major fix);
we opted to try out their buffet at the restaurant. We had traditional
Malaysian breakfast on one of the restaurants and I truly enjoyed the rice cakes.
Overall,
it was a short but sweet stay. But we so want to go back here soon, maybe next
year? Oh yes, we are so coming back to Melaka next year and stay
there for a week; me imagining myself lounging every night at Hotel Imperial
Heritage Melaka’s Skybar Lounge.
