It was ten in
the evening and we were so tired as we arrived at Ngurah Rai International
Airport. The interiors of the airport was just amazing, such a welcome
for our 10-day retreat in Bali. We dashed into the arrival area and found our
names being flashed by our gracious chauffer from Rama Beach Resort & Villas which is one of the properties of Rama Hotels & Resorts Bali Group.
They know me by name; personal service that is. |
The 15-minute
drive to our home was swift and as soon as we stepped into the lobby, we were
greeted by the front desk officers which knew us by our first names, talking
about personal service. Checking in was a breeze and we were ushered to our
villas in no time.
Premier Deluxe Cottage |
Our well-appointed
Premier Deluxe Cottage was truly in tune with the contemporary Balinese theme
of the resort (check here for discounted room rates). It is equipped with one King-sized
bed, a separate workstation and simple pantry (coffee and tea-making
facilities) at the foyer, a couch on the bay window, a Smart TV with
International channels and DVD player, a huge closet with safety deposit box, a
Mini Bar and an Individually-controlled AC.
His & hers lavatories. Happiness! |
I was overwhelmed when I walked inside
the toilet and bathroom. The bath tub is, of course, a plus
but the focal point is the shower room with hot and cold shower and a
rainshower head. What’s more interesting is the feeling of openness with the
outdoor shower feel during daytime. The energy-saving roof allows some natural
light passing through during daytime. I spent more than my usual bathing hours
here.
The private veranda of our villa with a pool and garden view was our coffee nook and our base camp during the day. Complimentary drinking water and fresh fruits also welcomed us in our own cottages.
My cottage on the left |
We had our
beer night on one of the villas while watching some movie (we snoozed effortlessly
in the middle of the movie though). We
weren’t slaves of our alarm clocks the next morning and we got up just in time for
the complimentary breakfast that is served daily at Dewi Shinta Restaurant
inside the resort complex.
Dewi Shinta Restaurant |
The
restaurant is an art piece in itself. The very detailed wood carvings were so
striking that I kept on looking at it. The combination of
Balinese and Western traditional breakfast fares was on the huge spread, I didn’t
know where to start. We specifically wanted a nice breakfast view so we settled
near the pool area (which, by the way, was so inviting).
I frequented the
bacon, ham and egg stations. The fresh orange juice was also my favorite.
At around three in the afternoon, we went to Rama Spa, still, inside the resort complex for our Ancestral Balinese Massage (a total spiritual and physical rejuvenation that dates back thousands of years ago); my two buddies were quite restrained at first but after ensuring them that the treatment would bring forth the rejuvenation they’re longing for, they relaxed a bit.
Couple's massage room |
The treatment
started with a foot bath ritual and then I was ushered to my bed where they
started the blessing mantra prayers. My two masseuses prayed in unison. The
mantra brought a total peace of mind and soul. And then the
outstanding massage followed.
Foot bath ritual |
Twenty
fingers. Imagine twenty fingers massaging your body. I was initially shocked on
how well-coordinated they were but enjoyed the massage afterwards. It was pure
bliss. I was savoring every touch and knead on every pressure point of my body.
After an hour or so, I was instructed to go to a warm flower bath that's waiting for me. And boy it was heaven.
The warm flower bath was so relaxing |
I emerged
from my room feeling revitalized. We were then offered some Balinese herbal tea and
were told that the session wasn’t over yet.
Refreshing Balinese herbal tea after the treatment |
We wore traditional
Balinese outfits and were led to a Hindu shrine inside the resort where the
therapy will culminate. We were so privileged to experience the Full Moon
ceremony that was ongoing at that time. This usually happens twice a year and
we were there to witness the ceremony that was observed by some of the resort’s
employees.

Feeling more
relaxed, we headed at the Dewi Shinta Restaurant for dinner. We chose to have a
traditional Balinese Set Meal which included; Hot & Sour Prawn Soup (a refreshing spicy
and sour soup with prawn and tofu), Nasi
Goreng Jawa (Javanese wok fried rice with crispy chicken, chicken sate and fried egg) and Indonesian sweet
of the day (chocolate cake).
Hot & sour prawn soup |
I love the Nasi Goreng Jawa, the combination of
fried rice with all the additions was just perfect. Everything was tasty and
flavorful that I finished everything on my plate. The dessert was also pretty
nice. The chocolate cake was moist and not that sweet. Overall, the dinner was the perfect way to end the day.

That night,
the moon was at its best. Shining brightly and at its fullest, we were
contemplating if we're gonna go out that night or just stay at the resort;
the latter won.
With Bintang
beer as our company that night, we settled on one of the cabanas and just
enjoyed the rest of the night. Our 3-day stay at Rama Beach Resort and Villas
was truly relaxing and the perfect way to commence our Bali adventure. The only
proof that we enjoyed our stay was that we didn’t leave the resort for some
tours or stuff. Oh, now I’m missing Rama Beach Resort in Bali.
