You wouldn’t know what you’re missing out until you tried something novel and fresh. Well, that happened to me when I tried out the Maremma 36L Hiking Backpack during the launch of Vaude in Manila last February. And now I know what I was looking for, all this time.
Comfy. Durable. Well-thought-of.
Looking over at the backpack displays at the Tripologie store in Eastwood Citywalk II, I kept on convincing myself that I didn’t need a new backpack. Until I tried it on.
Vaude (fau-de) is a famous outdoor brand in Europe that has its roots in Germany. The brand that specializes in mountaineering gear was recently embraced in the country with a partnership with one of the leading mountaineering tour groups in the country, Trail Adventours.
Testimonies from the guys of Trail Adventours proved that Vaude backpacks are durable in the most difficult hiking situations. I even saw one who brought his battered backpack and uses it as his daily bag. I tried it on and it was perfectly comfy (in spite of how packed it was).
I was checking out some backpacks that are specifically designed for women when I saw this Vaude Maremma 36L, sitting comfortably on a nook, in turquoise (my favorite color). I instantly loved it .
I first noticed how it was super lightweight (compared to my 30L heavy and very dragging backpack). I kept checking its features and found how it perfectly fits the upper torso of women, which is generally shorter. I also loved how the back strap contours the curves of the ladies’ core, not obstructive at all. It has accessible compartments, mesh pockets, waterproofing materials – its functionalities never seem to stop.
The launch was an eye-opener. I thought I was totally fine with what I have, my good old backpack that served me for a good 2 years. But then I realized that I would be more capable and effective as a traveler and blogger (and maybe as a lover) if I could leave some of my old baggage (literally and figuratively) behind. Right?
As we were about to leave, I went back and looked at the Vaude 36L Maremma Hiking Backpack once again with an evil eye. I really want this. This would truly be the perfect gear for my upcoming 2-month backpacking trip in SouthEast Asia. This though lingered through my mind for hours and days on end.
