Sleep-deprived and famished after the bus ride from Bangkok, we immediately went into the chic lobby of The Bayview Pattaya to confirm our reservations for two Deluxe rooms. We were offered some cold towels and welcome drinks and after a while I felt that it was taking too long for our reservations to be settled. I went back to the front desk officer who was assisting us when I learned that the hotel was overbooked.
We were led to our suites (sweet ain’t it?) and were stunned on how huge
it was. Me and my buddy were roomies while my two guy cousins owned the other
one. To say that our individual suites were huge was an understatement. We
owned the whole side of the hotel and got the best view of the garden on the
front and the beach at the back. We could play hide n’ seek here, I thought.
Moving on, we explored the vastness our Theme Suite (Safari). The 72-sq.m. suite occupied two corners of
the hotel thus, giving the best view on each side (check here for discounted room rates).
The suite has three main areas; the living area, the dining area and the
bedroom. In line with the theme, the living area was adorned with everything safari; jungle animals, faux animal hide
throw pillows, indoor house plants and other thingamajigs.
There’s a satellite TV, local/international phone, radio/alarm clock, huge
sofas, complimentary WiFi and individually-controlled air conditioning system.
A veranda opens up on the far end of the living area where a nice view
of the beach can observed. A small work table with lamp was also stationed in
between the veranda and the living area.
The dining area also echoed the theme of the suite; indoor house plants, fresh fruit platter (welcome treats), jungle animal statues, and more. The mini-bar includes four complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea-making facilities, and a personal fridge with items and price list. There’s also a 24-hour room service just in case you needed something at an ungodly hour.
I instantly noticed the tiled-wall, it was quirky and fun. I adore blue
so I was immediately thrilled with the different hues at the shower area. Towels
and Thai-inspired aromatic bath amenities and toiletries were provided for. A
small window that opens up to the bedroom made it more open and airy.
The bedroom has its own character but still echoed the whole theme of
the suite. The huge glass window opens up to a great view of a mountain
backdrop overlooking the city. There’s also a satellite TV, local/international
phone and radio/alarm clock.
The huge king-sized bed with comfy duvet and fluffy pillows were just
amazing. The black-out curtains added a homey feel to the room.
The group had the most wonderful sleep and waking up the next day was
just perfect. We headed straight to Garden
Terrace Café for the complimentary buffet breakfast and requested for a
table near the pool area. We feasted on pancakes, bacons and all other usual
breakfast fares.
