Luxent Hotel – Quezon City

Luxent Hotel Quezon City Blog

I almost surrendered to the scourging wind and punishing heat while I was traversing the roads of Quezon City that Saturday afternoon. Squinting in the sun, I walked over to the facade of Luxent Hotel - our sweet refuge for the weekend.

Located at the center of the entertainment district of Quezon City, Luxent Hotel provides its guests with utmost standard of services whether the stay is for business or leisure. The 14-storey building houses 109 Deluxe and Superior Rooms, 7 Executive Suites and 1 Luxent Suite that are tastefully furnished to provide a comfortable and luxurious stay.

We entered the swanky lobby and headed to the Lush Bar and Lounge located at the ground floor and settled on their very stylish seats. We were attended right away and were presented with the menu.

Refreshing drinks, impressive appetizers, entrees and desserts were listed; we didn’t know where to start.

Me and my buddy decided to have Japanese fares; Japanese Platter (400 Pesos) and Ramen (320 Pesos). The others went with local favorites of Beef Tapa (320 Pesos), Chicken and Pork Adobo (300 Pesos), Roasted Chicken (450 Pesos) and Sinigang na Liempo (400 Pesos).

Some had Spaghetti Cioppino (320 Pesos) and Asian Salad (380 Pesos).

For dessert, we had a Toblerone Cheesecake (250 Pesos) for sharing. I don’t dig much into sweets but I kinda liked it with my freshly brewed coffee (90 Pesos).

Serving time was average. We couldn’t take our fingers off the shutters as the extravagantly prepared dishes were served. Everything tasted great and we had fun trying out almost all of the dishes. The favorites were the salad and the spaghetti. The Ramen was the least favorite though, maybe because it was on the salty side.

We then proceeded with the check-in process that was swiftly managed by the front desk officers. In no time, we were given the key cards to our appointed rooms. The comprehensive security system of the hotel can be experienced at the lift. The guests can only access their assigned floor plus the unrestricted floors using their key cards.

We reserved two Superior Queen-types of room (check room types and rates) and added an extra bed in each one so as to fill in the whole group. We also requested for a smoking room (a separate floor is dedicated for such requests) for some of my buddies’ nicotine-fix.

Our 37 sq.m. room is well-equipped with two Queen-sized beds, flat-screen T.V. with cable channels, DVD player, in-room safe, mini-bar, coffee and tea-making facilities, individually controlled air-conditioning system, work table with lamp and complimentary WiFi connection.

The en suite toilet and bathroom was spacious with modern fittings. Hair dryer and toiletries were also provided for.

We also had our own private veranda (exclusive for smoking rooms) that was so spacious it could fit in a party of ten or so. This will be our party place later on.

We catnapped a bit and headed to the Garden Café for the dinner buffet (6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily). The buffet spread was a vast assortment of mouth-watering dishes. A certain section was dedicated to Japanese, Filipino and International dishes. There was also an appetizer and dessert stations.

Ebi Tempura and Vegetable Ratatouille overloaded my plate. But the winner, hands down, was the dessert section. Everything on that spot was amazing; from the cakes to the flans and other sweet treats (again, I do not have a sweet tooth).

Me and my buddies (we were ten in the group) were a planning a big birthday bash for one of our chummies. Nursing our full tummies, we went back to our rooms and prepped up for the big birthday bash. We set up a small feast at the veranda with some of our regional food favorites; Cebu Boneless Lechon, PancitBatil Patong and Toasted Siopao (with booze and more booze). The party went on until the dawn and it was so great to be with the company of young and hippie travelers that never seemed to stop talking about their future plans to conquer the world, world domination that is.

We slumbered for about three hours or so when someone mentioned that the complimentary buffet breakfast will expire soon. We dashed to the Garden Café to fill up once again with delectable local and international breakfast fares. Happy bacons, omelette, hams, chicken tocino and potato wedges dominated my plate.

We went back to our rooms and snoozed some more. Movie marathon followed and then the world domination discussions; our kind of lazy Sunday in our chosen hotel for the weekend.

Late in the afternoon we went to the sixth floor to check out the infinity pool. We were stunned when we saw the clear glass swimming pool and then everybody stripped off immediately.

We had fun doing some crazy stunts in the pool that we spent almost three hours perfecting it. We had some more booze and ended the day with a bang.

Then it was time to go home.

We were, of course, saddened by the fact that we’re leaving the comforts and luxuries that Hotel Luxent had given us. But at the end of the day, it was the memories added to our timelines that matter most.
