I love going to the beach, not the pool, not the lake, not even the river but the beach. It’s that sand on my feet and that gentle wind of sea breeze, oh and the seawater that lingers on my skin. Ahh… Pure bliss. And as if I’m going to decline his offer, a friend asked me to this trip with some travel blogger friends at Patar Beach in Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Me and
my buddy decided to leave earlier than the group. We felt that an overnight
trip would be such a disgrace to this paradise that we’ve yet to discover.
We went to Victory Liner Bus station at Cubao around midnight and was told that the aircon bus bound to Bolinao just left and the only option we had was to take the non-aircon bus. It was fine because there were like 10 warm bodies inside it and we practically owned the bus. The fare was about 350 pesos each but because I have a student ID I should’ve paid around 280 pesos. But then, our very cold-hearted conductor refused my claim for discount for he said that I should’ve given it to him earlier when we were asked on our endpoint. I don’t wanna cause trouble anymore so I just snoozed my annoyance.

We reached
the town of Bolinao at around seven in the morning and immediately went to the
nearest eatery where we had a decent breakfast. We then headed to the public
market and bought some stuff that we’d surely be needing on this very distant part
of Bolinao.
5 pesos each for this super fresh sea urchins |
Looking for a tricycle in the market area to bring us to Patar Beach was easy. We tried to haggle and agreed on 150 pesos for the trip. The ride going to Patar is not that easy. The almost one hour ride (blame it to the road constructions) made our bodies more sluggish. The tricycle dropped us at the White Beach area and decided to give him 200 pesos instead of the negotiated price (the standard rates during lean season).
This will
be my first ever beach encounter in the province of Pangasinan and the weather
is totally cooperating. And Patar White Beach is indeed a happy beach. And I
haven’t even tried the waters yet.
The clear blue skies and the crystal clear waters were just wonderful. The riffs and rock formations on the far end also looked promising. I was starting to like the vibe of this beach.
The clear blue skies and the crystal clear waters were just wonderful. The riffs and rock formations on the far end also looked promising. I was starting to like the vibe of this beach.
With no prior booked accommodation, we scouted the whole stretch of White Beach to check a place where we can stay for the night. The middle part of the beach was way too crowded with daytrippers. The cottages for rent also blocked the nice view of the beach. And with that, I decided to look for a secluded place for us.
Moving away from the crowd, I found this remote resort that seemed to be deserted. I have to ask someone if this place is actually open for renting out. Ate Rose, the caretaker, informed us that the place is a resort and they’re open to accept us for 3,500 pesos per night. I later on learned that it's the Nature's Camp White Beach Resort.
The
resort can hold up to 30 persons (excluding tent
accommodation). The huge native hut has one bedroom, its own toilet and
bathroom and is enclosed with wide balcony that can be used as sleeping area.
An electric fan is provided and a cooking station is available right outside
it. Everything's just basic. Don't expect resort-quality stuff here.
The
best thing about the resort is the unobstructed view of the sea. A smaller hut was also included in the package. It’s sitting closer to the beach and is the
perfect place to chill or sunset watching. With all this, I tried to negotiate
with Ate Rose, telling her that we’re only six in the group and if she could
provide us with better rates we’d be happy to accept it. We got the whole place
for a discounted price and I couldn’t be much happier.
It was
a fine day at the beach. The rest of the group will arrive the next day and we
have nothing to do but chill. Mealtimes were spent on a nearby eatery that
serves all-day silog meals (starting
from 50 pesos). Beer and snacks are easy to spot on some stores.
A local delicacy of sticky rice |
Speechless.
I couldn’t say a word or I dunno how to express my wonder at that perfect
moment. And then I realized that I’ve got to finish what I started, the booze.
Asan tayo? |
The
first team to arrive was Julius + Darwin. With fresh produce in tow, we
quickly started to slaughter our lunch for the day. Fresh fish, squids (bought
from a peddler around the beach) and pork were laid to the grilling station while
I was busy chopping off some green mangoes, tomatoes and onions for the salsa.
My perfect salsa mix! |
We spent
an entire day on this shed with everything we need; food, booze, beach, gorgeous sunset and the perfect company of great friends whom I share the same passion and love affair with traveling and people and culture
and long bus rides and being stranded and… Ok, I’m being overly dramatic here.
We lounged mostly on this hut |
We could’ve rented a boat and do some island hopping but we didn’t. We were offered by a tricycle driver to do some tours to this certain waterfalls and stuff but we declined. We just stayed there and relished the sun, sea and sand.
We bid our goodbyes to Ate Rose with a promise of revisiting her place again. Before heading back, we asked our tricycle driver to drop us by at the Bolinao Lighthouse. The view there is nice but the lighthouse is, yes, still a lighthouse. Manila-bound buses are easy to spot on the town and the aircon bus fare is around 450-460 pesos (367 pesos for students – yey!).
Bolinao lighthouse is just a few hundred meters away from the beach! |
I love
the Patar Beach vibe; the beach, its seclusion and the calmness of the place. I totally forgot about my camera and just did what I was wishing for the longest time now - an uninterrupted relaxation mode. I
could imagine myself lounging somewhere here for days (I don’t freak out when
cellphone signals and internet connections die on me). Bring me to Patar Beach, now, please!

Im so happy you like and almost love my favorite beach.
ReplyDeleteAng saya lang no kahit wala masyadong signal, basta may food at redhorse lang. haha
And with good friends Darwin :)
DeleteHI, may we ask if meron kaya silang room good for 20 persons? How much the rate?
DeleteThe hut we rented is good for 20 persons. Just don't expect resort-tpe of accommodation po :)
Deleteive been there last may 15. .to see the beach because we have a family gathering on august. .may i know the exact location where we found that cottage. .
DeleteIt is on the far end sa leftmost side facing the beach. A few meters away from Benjie's :)
Salamat!
DeleteYung contact number is written on the article po :)
DeleteYun parin po kaya yung number nya? Or baka wala lang pong signal dun? Unattended po kasi pag tinatawagan. Salamat :)
DeleteYes
Deleteis unaattended na number
Oh, I'm sorry as it's the only number I have of Ate Rose. Hopefully someone who's been there recently could give us the new cellphone number.
DeleteYep. I tried several times to reach ate rose but the number is out of coverage. ðŸ˜
DeleteKala ko si sadaku hihi never been to bolinao
ReplyDeleteHaha. Kulot version Kulapitot :)
DeleteI don't understand why the bus conductor made such a big deal about honoring your student discount. It is not going to financially benefit him, one way or the other. Baka talaga lang a..hole LOL.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Di ko na pinatulan bertN :P
DeleteHi, just want to ask if where exactly Ate Rose's cottage are. We've been to Patar Beach Bolinao before but we're eager to try the place that you mentioned above. Really looks relaxing and beautiful. Tried calling her number and as always signal in Bolinao is unimaginable haha. Siguro swerte nalang kung maka contact pa ^__^
ReplyDeleteThank you and hope your having a great week.
Hi there! The resort is known in the area as "Paradise Resort". Located at the right part facing the beach :)
DeleteParang gusto ko sumama sa group nyo. Mahilig kami mag beach camping angs stuff and ive been to a lot of places already.
ReplyDeleteWow. Sarap na problema niyan Hihey ah. Hihi
DeleteHi i've been trying to contact the number of "ate rose" pero sabi nung nag reply sakin hindi daw yun sa paradise resort, sa nature's white beach camp daw yun.
ReplyDeleteOh, maybe there's a confusion on the name. Pero eto ba daw yung nasa dulong side ng patar? leftmost facing the beach?
Deletepatar beach will be on my check list =)
ReplyDeleteGo lang nang go Pol! :)
DeleteA cheaper option would be pitching a tent on the shore. After all, it's a free public beach :)
]
It's all written on the post po :)
DeleteWe used the # that you posted, yeah they are from nature's camp white beach resort,
ReplyDeleteAnd si 'kuya roswin' ang nakausap ko. Boy or Girl ba ang caretaker?
For reservation tru cebuana po e, legit ba yun?
Girl yung nakausap namin dun pero if you contacted the same number malamang yun na din yun. Wala kasing signage ang resort nila eh...
DeleteHi Katie and blissful guro! Nagpareserve din kami, natuloy ba kayo Katie? Magdedeposit na sana kami kay Kuya Roswin through Cebuana. Thanks!
Deletea friend went to Puerto del Sol and he didn't seem to enjoy the beach dahil sobrang low tide daw. the beach in your pictures seem nice. Is this near to Puerto del sol? or the other known resorts?
15pax po kami and hanap ng affordable but good accommodation. Pa help naman po. Tnks
ReplyDeleteOk kila ate Rose Jenny.

Deletehey there ! i wanna now whereexactly is this place and how to get there im going to recommend this to my relatives , and one thing ahm is it expensive to get there? :) thans hope to get response soon as posible :))
ReplyDeleteYung bus fare po nasa blog post. Yung food naman eh mas tipid kung mamamalengke muna sa town and then luto na lang sa beach house :)
Deletemam ganda do u remember mam the resort before kay ate rose?thanks mam
ReplyDeleteUhmmm... Di na po eh. Hehe
Deletehello po.. may accomodation po ba dito for 2 persons? we've decided to go there this weekend. Need pa po ba nmin ng reservation? thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteThere are cheap accommodations near the beach.
Yung 3500 po for the whole Kubo and nipa cottage na po? How many persons po kasya sa cottage? May entrance fee pa po ba?
ReplyDeleteIt's on the further end of the beach (left side facing the beach). Walang entrance fee and ok naman sila kahit gano karami as long as kasya sa kubo :)
DeleteAre the accomodations on the shore line?
ReplyDeleteYes po :)
Deletemay bayad pa rin ba kahit may sariling tent for overnight?
ReplyDeleteI need the answer here, as well. Please answer, blissfulguro! :)
DeleteIf tent siguro free na kasi wala namang may ari ng shore di ba? You just have to pay every time you use the toilets (which is medyo marami din naman sa area) :)
Delete150 nabasa ko lang
DeleteHi. Good source of info. Here at Patar beach now. Roads are concrete already. :) On the location you were at that time, did your ride turn right after the lighthouse? Looking for snorkeling spots. Thanks in advance for the assist.
ReplyDeleteHi there Philip! I think there are some snorkeling spots somewhere near the rocks on the right side of the beach. Haven't tried it though. Enjoy Patar! :)
DeleteMany thanks for the suggestion. Was content hanging and snorkeling at Nature Camp's side (beside Benjie's) as we could stay under the trees. If anyone's sked permits, do head there during weekdays. Mabuhay! :)
DeleteAko naman nainggit sayo Philip. Hihihi. Must head there this weekend :)
DeleteNgpapahiram b sila ng kitchen utensils or ngpaparent?and ung 3500 b na rent for peak season na un?
ReplyDeleteYep meron naman mahihiraman dun :)
DeleteHi! We came across this article:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/pages/White-Beach-Natures-Camp-Bolinao/426591237370743
We'd like to know if this is the same Nature's Camp as what is indicated on the FB post? Thanks.
I don't really know because there are not enough photos on the Facebook Page :(

ReplyDeleteWow thank you so much Don! :)
DeleteHi! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIhaw kami mostly eh. Pero yung mga kanin pinapaluto lang namin :)
DeleteHi po Ms. Ganda, just wondering if hnd siya mahirap puntahan kung naka private car? We're from Pampanga and we want to try this one. Thanks! :)

ReplyDeleteHi just wanna ask if you are aware of what other resorts yung nasa area? please thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there Ruvilyn. Sorry but I'm not really familiar with other resorts in the area :(
DeleteHi Can you help me po. Can you recommend a room accommodation where are guest can rent?
ReplyDeleteI don't know much po sa area eh... Pero marami naman po sa White Beach.
DeleteGood day! Pwede po ba kayo mag recommend ng cheapest white beach resort in Pangasinan. We are still a student so we look for the most affordable too. Thank you po :)
Group of three lang kasi kame kaya mukhang di na kame magdadala ng foods and drinks. Also are their prices reasonable? Appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHi there!
Kung pwede how much po? Students kame nagplaplano pa 5 po kame hehe
ReplyDeleteYes. Just try to contact them through phone :)
DeleteHi po, I called them na and booked 3 nights, I just forgot to ask if they have a fridge and a stove. Tried contacting them again but we have crappy connection since I'm calling from Sweden. And do they provide blankets and sleeping mats po ba? Thank you!!! This blog was such a big help finding a place in bolinao.
ReplyDeleteOhhh. The house is just basic nipa hut with electric fans only. They can provide blankets and sleeping mats naman just don't expect fancy ones. You may want to check out other accommodations here instead - http://www.agoda.com/city/bolinao-ph.html?cid=1649718 :)
DeleteThank you :) but we really wanna try this place. Guess we'll just have to settle with coolers. :) thanks again!
ReplyDeleteNo worries Joyce and enjoy! :)
DeleteAre there any accident prone areas in Bolinao?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry po but I cannot vouch for that :(
DeleteHi po. Salamat sa blog. Ask ko lqng po, gano po katagal ang byahe from manila to bolinao? Salamat po ng narami

Was able to talk to Ate Bing, Ate Rose's daughter in law.
ReplyDeleteWow that's great! Enjoy Patar :)
DeleteHi ilang persons po ung 4k?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteHi! Thanks for your blog! Ask ko lang kung mga gaano kalayo ito sa puerto del sol, mga ilang minutes po ang travel time from there? Just really need this information but we already made a reservation dito kila ate rose. :) Please reply. Thanks in advance!
Deletethe mobile num is unattended.. :( i tried calling it 5 times since yesterday, but unaattended talaga :(
ReplyDeletethe mobile num is unattended.. :( i tried calling it 5 times since yesterday, but unaattended talaga :(
DeleteHi there! We plan to go there this weekend. We are around 25. My officemates prefer an area where a tent can be set-up along with a cottage on the side for dining purposes.

DeleteHow bout the tent, are u also allowing that ? Or does patar beach has camp site so we can put up a tent . Thank You
ReplyDeletePatar White Beach is open for public. You can pitch tents anywhere as long as it doesn't obstruct any establishment. The only problem will be the toilet though.
DeleteHi. Do they have any facebook pages? We're planning to book. They're asking for reservation fee of 1k. We're willing to pay. Just wanted to make sure they're legit :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIf you used the cellphone number on the article then it's legit. Enjoy Patar Beach in Bolinao! :)

ReplyDeleteHi po. We are planning to visit Patar Beach. Look so lovely and peacefull.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I don't know how far is Manaoag to Patar. As for the socket, yes they have it there but not a lot. They also have an outside kitchen area but they don't have cooking utensils. And you can buy fresh seafood and other stuff from Bolinao Market. And please don't expect luxury on this particular resort as it is very basic just like other accommodations on Patar Beach itself :)
DeleteHello! I find your article interesting and now I'm thinking of bringing my family this summer. I just wonder if it's a basic accommodation without A/C, Ok pa rin ba to sleep if I have 4 kids in tow? I am hoping at least comfortable to sleep even without A/C? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteYep. It's just a basic nipa hut with no comfy linens and whatnots :)
ReplyDeleteYep. The one I posted could fit in 20 pax :)
