It
was around eight in the evening when we landed at Langkawi International Airport
and we dashed to the gate where our driver was waiting for us. It was our first
time in Langkawi and all we knew was that it was a tax-free island off the northwestern
coast of Malaysia. We checked in at Hotel Bahagia, our home for three nights,
dropped our bags and went out for dinner. The strategic location of the hotel
provided a number of great dining options for us. After a week in Melaka and
Kuala Lumpur, I was still yearning for my good old mee goreng.
Hotel
Bahagia is strategically located in the heart of Kuah, the capital and largest
town in Langkawi. Me and my buddies specifically wanted to stay at downtown for
the first four days of the trip to get the vibe of the island.
We
had prior booking which made checking in a breeze. Hotel Bahagia offers a wide
range of rooms and suites to suit everyone’s needs (check rooms and rates).
Billeted
on a Junior Suite, we were welcomed with a spacious room with a king-sized bed,
AC, lounge chair, massage chair, flatscreen TV with local and international
channels, a bar counter with coffee and tea-making facilities, mini fridge,
hair dryer and a wardrobe closet with safe vault.
The
private toilet and bath was equipped with hot and cold shower and bathroom
amenities.
I
easily rested on the massage chair and turned the power on while waiting for my
buddies to settle in. It wasn’t as relaxing as a real massage but it actually
eased my tired body. I wanted to escape from the intense heat of Malaysia (even
at nighttime) and would wanna rest at that instant but my buddies were starving
and craving for kopi ais, nasi goreng and mee goreng so we went out and grabbed something to eat on a hawker
stall on the street. We capped the night off with cans of beer which is way
cheaper here than in the rest of Malaysia.
I
dozed off easily that night and was recharged for our next day’s activities.
The
complimentary buffet breakfast for all of the guests is a mix of traditional
and international brekkie favorites. I would always fill my plate with baked
beans, fried noodles and freshly-made breads. Coffee, tea and juices are also available.
What
I love most about Hotel Bahagia, aside from its location, is the friendly staff
who always assisted us on our needs and queries.
