I was yawning incessantly as it was an hour before midnight. We entered the ground floor of Hotel SAV and headed to the second level for the reception area. Hues of red popped everywhere that stirred me up. And then I instantly noticed the sleek and classy white dress of the front desk officers with an assortment of pastel-colored shawls and belts; my eyes were fixed to the dress for a moment.
It was our
first night in Hong Kong and an hour after arriving at Hong Kong International Airport
we were dropped by the bus near our hotel and walked our way to the hotel.
Hung Hom was a quiet area in the district of Kowloon which is mostly filled
with residential buildings making it a legit Hong Kong community (check here for discounted tours, transportation and activities in Hong Kong). It was almost midnight and the area seemed deserted.
It was Monday
and the color for the day was red, so that explains the popping of red
everywhere (Aqua blue was scheduled on a Saturday, too bad). After checking in I
was asked to choose a postcard and apparently, the dominant color of the photo
somewhat reflects your personality.
We settled
immediately on our Deluxe Room (check rates). We didn’t have time to choose our
theme color for the room so we're assigned on an orangey one.
The huge mirror on
the right wall was the first thing I noticed as we entered into our room. It opened up to an all-white finish space with splashes of orange throw
pillows on the bed. So clean and sleek.
White, clean, fresh. |
A work
station, still in white, rested on a wall with a contemporary chic chair ,a basket
of fruits seated on top of it. The double-sized bed was fluffy and comfy. A
flat-screen TV mounted on a wall. A self-controlled in-room mood lights were
also installed on our bed’s headboard.
The room was
airy with its high ceiling and full-length windows covered with curtains of
soft material. An open wardrobe closet across it was filled with bath robes,
in-room safe, coffee and tea-making facilities and mini fridge with
complimentary drinks, yes, everything for free!
Aside from
the complimentary use of their fast and reliable WiFi connection, they also
have free smart phones for their guests. We used it as a portable 3G internet
source when we toured around. Unlimited calls to Mainland China, Singapore,
South Korea, Thailand and U.S.A. are also enjoyed by the guests.
The en suite toilet
and bath was complete with hot and cold shower, hairdryer and bathroom
amenities from a well-known international brand.
Our room was clean,
airy and perfect for relaxation.
We were
really famished so we scouted the area for something to eat and spotted a roadside
noodle place right in front of the hotel that serves Tsing Tao. So there we
were. At one in the morning, laughing and chatting while downing bowls of
noodles and huge bottles of Tsing Tao Beer.
We headed
straight to the in-house restaurant of Hotel SAV for breakfast. Palette serves complimentary
buffet breakfast for its in-house guests. The buffet spread was filled local
and international breakfast favorites. I had a simple brekkie of bacons, eggs and pancakes with
overflowing syrup plus coffee. The vibe here was very lively. Perfect for the
start of the day.

More than its
good location, cool uniforms and color theme that echoes
throughout the hotel, what’s remarkable was the excellent
service that every staff provides to the guests. There was this time when I was
baffled while looking on a map when someone assisted me and even helped me out
on plotting our routes. It may be overlooked sometimes but service makes all the
difference. And I will be staying here again, hopefully soon.
